Socks For The Homeless
We are fortunate to have been born in a country where opportunity exists and lucky enough to have been able to take advantage of some of the opportunities that have presented themselves. That combined with a lot of hard work has allowed us to live a very comfortable lifestyle. We do realize, however, that there are those less fortunate living in this country and for that reason we feel that giving back is the right thing to do.
For more than 15 years we have been donating socks to various charities and shelters supporting homeless people. During that time we have donated over 20000 pairs of socks to help keep the feet of homeless folks warm in Kamloops and Trail BC, Edmonton, Calgary and Lloydminster Alberta and Saskatoon and Moose Jaw in Saskatchewan. Due to the care and attention required with washing and drying the Alpaca socks, we quickly discovered that although they are infinitely warmer and more durable than the Merino work socks, almost all of them were being lost prematurely due to washing them in hot water or throwing them in a dryer. Hence the changeover several years ago to the easier to care for Merino work socks for this program.
April 1 2019 we will donate one pair of our Merino work socks to a homeless shelter for each article of Alpaca product purchased. Along with supporting Canadian businesses, know that your purchase is also helping homeless people.
